In what is rapidly turning into a year-round fundraising drive, Sarah’s Food Drive is off to an early start this year. Thanks to everyone who came to Claire’s birthday party, and donated items of food. We raised 74 pounds of food and $60 towards Sarah’s Food Drive’s 2015 goal. Look for more fundraising updates and initiatives coming Spring 2015!
Thanks to the combined efforts of our fantastic local business partners this year, we are happy to announce that almost 250 Thanksgiving holiday hampers were purchased for clients of the Daily Bread Food Bank.
When you add that to the online donations from local businesses (raised through promotional events, employee challenges or direct donations), participating businesses raised approximately 10,000 pounds of food for Daily Bread Food Bank.

We are thrilled to announce that Sarah has been recognized for her work on Sarah’s Food Drive with the 2014 Me to We Award in the Youth in Action, 12 and under category. She accepted her award today at We Day Toronto, alongside the 5 other 2014 Me to We award winners.
While Sarah accepted this award personally, this recognition is the result of the tireless work of so many in our community, and the tremendous support of friends and family over the past 6 years.

The rain stopped and the clouds parted just in time for a spectacular afternoon at Trace Manes Park this past Sunday, September 21st. Thanks to the Leaside Rotary Club, Sarah’s Food Drive had a table at this year’s 21st annual corn roast. It was a great way for Sarah and Claire to spread awareness of this year’s drive which starts this coming Saturday, September 27th and runs until October 12th.
We collected food donations, cash donations as well as selling Thanksgiving holiday hampers, which will continue to be for sale at McDowell’s valu-mart for $25 until October 10th.
Premier Kathleen Wynne also paid a visit to Sarah’s Food Drive and made a personal donation to this year’s campaign!
The food drive officially kicks off this Saturday.
